big earthquakes but not near me

There were two big quakes in Japan today. There was a 7.0 one this morning in northern Japan off the coast that created small tsunami waves. I didn't feel it, even though the news said it could be felt in Tokyo. Maybe because I was walking to work at the time. There was another 6.1 quake in the Japan Sea, but didn't feel that one either. That's fine. Actually, we haven't had any quakes around Tokyo recently (knock on wood).
